MAPPING OF THE MOVABLE
2019-21
f.eks., Aalborg, DK
The ongoing project Mapping of the Movable was initiated in 2019 at the art platform f.eks. The project is seeking to create and document an alternative production of the city, with Aalborg as the site. It is a multi-layered investigation about self-organised spaces, subcultures, and commons, which has taken shape through performative meetings, public workshops, walks and online gatherings. Aalborg is undergoing heavy transformation from an industrial city to a knowledge-based university city, with culture and art in focus. Mapping of the Movable investigates the transformation from the perspective of the local communities, how they relate to the history of Aalborg and it’s future growth.
The collective material will culminate as a digital guide in English, that maps 28 existing groups in Aalborg that all are practicing either urban actions, social gatherings, art- or design making or activism. Besides their relation to the city, the guide will be about the communities’ everyday rhythms, social aspects, self-organisational structures, decision-making processes, challenges, and (un)fulfilled dreams.
The Mapping of the Movable guide will be launched in collaboration with the Open program at Kunsten Museum of Modern Art, Aalborg, 24th February 2021 (or as soon as possible, due to the restrictions).
The project is financial supported by the Danish Arts Foundation and Aalborg Municipality Arts Foundation.
