STUDY GROUP ON MIGRATION
2016-17
Museum of Contemporary Art, Roskilde, Denmark
The study group was initiated by the Museum of Contemporary Art, and I participated together with 16 other artists, activists and thinkers. The study group focused on how the current migration challenges the idea of the nation state, borders and questions of belonging. It also discussed whether art and culture can play a particular role in relation to communicating this conflicted field and contribute to new ways of understanding ourselves and each other. Each participant suggested something for the curriculum of the group. The meetings was facilitated by Mai Takawira, project coordinator at the museum, while anthropologist and researcher Zachary Whyte, was moderating the discussions. Additionally, a guest lecture was invited for each time. The program ended with a seminar organised by the study group.
